Facebook Stories
24-hour full-screen posts for Facebook Pages: quick, casual and easy to tap through.
Facebook Stories sit at the top of the feed for 24 hours. They’re a light, frequent way to stay in front of the people who already follow your Page.
At a glance
| Spec | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Size | 1,080 × 1,920 px (9:16) |
| Safe zone (approx.) | 950 × 1330 px |
| Media per post | One photo or video per story |
| Account | Facebook Page |
Safe zone
The top of a story holds the progress bar and your Page name; the bottom holds the reply and reaction controls. Keep text inside the dashed area.
Platforms don’t publish exact overlay sizes, and their apps move buttons between versions. These insets are deliberately conservative: preview on a phone before you post.
Hook
- Get to the point. One message per story, readable at a glance.
- Use motion. A short video catches the eye better than a still image.
- Keep it timely. Today’s news, offers and events suit a format that disappears tomorrow.
Design and edit
- Fill the 9:16 frame. Full-screen media looks native.
- Large, high-contrast text. Add a solid background behind text on busy images.
- One photo or video per story. Build a sequence by scheduling several stories.
Caption and copy
- The design is the copy. Put the message on the image itself.
- Invite a reply. A question turns a story into a conversation.
Timing and cadence
- Post little and often. A few stories a day keeps your Page at the front of the stories row.
- Match your audience’s day. Schedule them for when your followers check Facebook.
What to measure
Facebook doesn’t give Octapost reliable per-story metrics yet. Check the story viewers in Facebook while it’s live.
How Octapost reports these metrics
Do it in Octapost
- Choose the Stories post type and use the Reels / Story preset (1080 × 1920).
- Schedule a series in one go; each story goes out at its own time.
- Stories publish to Facebook Pages, not personal profiles.
Creating posts in the composer
Checklist
- One full-screen 9:16 photo or video.
- Nothing important in the top or bottom bands.
- The message reads in two seconds.
- The content is relevant today.
- There’s a reason to reply.
