LinkedIn document carousels
PDF posts people page through in the feed: a cover that promises value, one idea per page and a final call to action.
A document post shows a PDF or slide deck as a swipeable carousel in the feed. Each page turn keeps people on your post, which makes documents one of LinkedIn’s most engaging formats.
Five rules apply to every format: hook first, stay consistent, tell a complete story, end with a call to action and design for the phone. Read the five rules

| Spec | Recommended |

| Max file size | 100 MB |
| Pages | Up to 300 |
| Text length | 3,000 characters |
Hook
- The cover is the hook. A clear title promising a specific result: “7 slides to a better sales email”.
- Give the document a title. It appears above the carousel in the feed.
- Make page two deliver. Get to the first useful point immediately.
Design and edit
- Design portrait pages at 1080 × 1350. They fill the feed on a phone.
- One idea per page, large type. People read on phones.
- Keep it short. Seven to twelve pages is enough for most topics.
- Brand every page lightly. A small logo or name so the content stays yours when shared.
Caption and copy
- Tease the content. Say what readers will learn, not just “check out this PDF”.
- Ask what they’d add. Invite comments with a question.
- Put the call to action on the last page and in the post.
Timing and cadence
- Turn your best content into documents. A blog post, a talk or a checklist converts well.
- Mix formats. Alternate documents with text and image posts.
What to measure
Impressions, reach and comments show how widely it was read and discussed; shares show it was worth passing on.
