Google Business posts

Updates, events and offers on your Business Profile: a clear photo, local detail and a button that drives action.

Posts appear on your Business Profile in Google Search and Maps, right when people are deciding where to go or who to call. Keep them current, local and actionable.

Five rules apply to every format: hook first, stay consistent, tell a complete story, end with a call to action and design for the phone. Read the five rules

Hook

  • Use a real photo. Your storefront, team, product or work in progress.
  • Start with the news. The first lines show in the preview; say what’s new.
  • Choose the right type. An event or offer shows dates and details that an update doesn’t.

Design and edit

  • Use a 4:3 photo at 1200 × 900. Keep the subject centered so it survives cropping.
  • Avoid text-heavy images. Put the message in the post, not on the photo.
  • Use JPG or PNG. One photo per post.

Caption and copy

  • Include local details. Your neighborhood, city or service area helps people relate.
  • Be specific about offers. What, how much, until when.
  • Add a call-to-action button. Book, order, call or learn more.

Timing and cadence

  • Post every week. Fresh posts show customers your business is active.
  • Plan around your calendar. Holidays, seasonal hours and events are good reasons to post.

What to measure

Google no longer provides per-post metrics for Business Profile posts. Use Business Profile performance in Google for views, calls and direction requests.
